D16 Charitable Trust

The  Zonta District 16 Charitable Trust exists to promote the advancement of women and the enhancement of their status within New Zealand, and in developing countries, as recognised by the United Nations from time to time by:

1.     Promoting the education of girls and women

2.     Improving the health status of women by the relief of sickness and disease and prevention of violence against women.

3.     Relieving poverty against women

Established in 2008 by Past District Governors Lynne McKenzie, Jan Bowman, Maxelyn Tudman and others it offers club members and members of the public a way of donating to support the ideals of Zonta in a tax effective manner.

The Board of Trustee members are the District Governor, District Lieutenant Governor, District Treasurer, District Foundation Ambassador, and one other member appointed by the District Board.

Annual Accounts are presented to members at the District Conference.

The Trust is registered with the Charities Commission and receipts are given to enable donors to claim a tax rebate. Some members choose to make monthly or quarterly donations, while others give annually, or in honour of a specific event (such as a significant birthday or the death of a club member), The District Treasurer issues a receipt that enables the donor to claim a tax rebate.

Donations given via the Trust at the District Conference to the Trust will also allow the donor to receive a tax receipt.

If you need anything further please email our District Treasurer  Treasurerd16@zonta.org.nz

Clubs do not use the Trust to forward their donations. These must be sent direct to District (in the case of the District Project) or Zonta International (in the case of their International Commitment).
